General Surgery

General surgeons have specialized training in operating on organs in the abdomen, including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bile ducts, and the thyroid gland. Additionally, general surgeons also perform breast procedures, hernia operations and medical procedures on the skin and soft tissues.

At Stamford Health Medical Group, our general surgeons are highly trained in the latest and most innovative minimally invasive surgical techniques. Though not all procedures can be performed this way, whenever possible to deliver the highest likelihood of the best outcome, minimally invasive procedures are used. Minimally invasive surgical techniques typically result in less discomfort for patients and make recovery easier, with a lower risk of complications, less bleeding and faster healing.
