Surgery is always a serious matter but all the more so for patients who experience trauma, defined in the medical world as a life-threatening occurrence, accidental or intentional, that causes injuries. The leading causes of trauma are motor vehicle crashes, falls and assaults.
The Stamford Health Medical Group skilled surgeons have outstanding training and expertise in caring for patients who’ve suffered trauma.
We work closely with the Stamford Hospital surgical department and the emergency department to provide excellent care as well as educate the staff and community about trauma. Stamford Hospital is one of just nine Connecticut hospitals certified as a Level II Trauma Center. A Level II Trauma Center also provides both acute critical care and care throughout the continuum of the patients' illness and injury.
